NOIDA: Various RWAs on Tuesday raised civic and security issues with officials. While sector 34 RWA held a meeting with Rajneesh Verma assistant commissioner of police (ACP) regarding the safety of the sector, Arun Vihar Residents Welfare Association (AVRWA) along with FONRWA members had authority officials visit the sector to look into the problems of water accumulation, sewer overflow, cleaning of drain and disposal of horticulture waste.

Also, even as a senior resident body wrote a letter to Noida authority CEO over the long pending demand of freehold conversion of property in Noida, NCR RWA wrote to petroleum minister Dharmendra Pradhan over rising prices of petrol and diesel.

“Today, a meeting was held between Federation RWA Sector-34 and ACP Rajneesh Verma regarding the safety of sector-34 where RWA chairman KK Jain raised the demand for increased patrolling, PCR entry at apartment gates and more staff in sector 34 police post. We also demanded installation of barriers on the main entry routes of the sector to ensure Covid-19 compliance to rules,” said Dharmendra Sharma general secretary Federation RWA sector-34.

In Aun Vihar (caters to sectors 28, 29 and 37) Colonel (retd) Shashi Vaid apprised that a team from Noida Authority including OSD Indu Prakash along with officials of health and horticulture department, took stock of the sectors where RWA raised issued of cleaning of drains, pruning of shrubs and trees leading to many outages from their fall on overhead cable during showers, as well as water accumulation and sewer overflow.

“OSD Prakash gave instructions to resolve these issues in a phased manner where it was decided that initially action will be taken to block the ingress of water through the boundary wall and clearance of main drain connected to the main nalla. Also, horticulture waste was directed to be cleared immediately. In the second phase, the possibility of making a drain along the main road and tackling the problem of sewage connection of the motor market will be undertaken,” said Colonel Vaid, chairman AVRWA.

Meanwhile members of Jan Shakti Sewa Samiti (JSSS) a social organisation comprising some very senior residents wrote to Noida Authority CEO Ritu Maheshwari over the long pending demand to convert Noida property to freehold from current 99-year leashold. “A long rigorous follow up of nearly over 10 years by various RWAs and social organizations of Noida for conversion of lease hold land into freehold led to Noida Board finally approving it in its meeting held on November1, 2018 and was subsequently sent to the State government for its final approval. Since then, the residents of Noida have anxiously been awaiting the issuance of the final approval/notification. It’s been nearly two years since the genuine demand of residents await clearance,” said AN Dhawan chief patron JSSS.

Sushil Aggarwal, one of the early settlers of Noida, adds that freehold policy has been in existence in UP since 1995. It is applicable in all major towns of UP and even some of the industrial authorities have allotted freehold land to developers for development of integrated colonies. “With approval from Noida board, the matter should now be expedited from the state government as no district or city in UP has such a clause of 99-year leasehold on property,” said Aggarwal.

Further, the Confederation of NCR Residents Welfare Association (CONRWA) has petitioned to Dharmendra Pradhan, union minister for petroleum and natural gas and minister of steel on the longest ever continuous 21 days fuel price hike of June this year and demand its reversal especially when crude oil prices have fallen internationally. CONRWA cites the far reaching impact of increasing fuel prices where Covid-19 pandemic has already affected job loss, low income of middle to lower middle class and on all corporates, schools, hospitals, means of transportation and industry.
